Submit a Sign
The Office Sign Project is looking for submissions of photo documentation
of these sorts of signs. OSP is also looking for written testimonies of
anyone who has ever read a sign that changed their behavior, or anyone
that is an office sign creator.
Even though this project is called The Office Sign project, submissions are
in no way limited to just office work places. Anyplace where signs are used
in lieu of personal communication will work.

The Office Sign Project is a web-based photo project that seeks to document the under appreciated art
of office sign making.
Huh?
Office signs are the ultimate passive aggressive expression in todays
corporate world. These signs are made usually in the midst of the
contradictory haphazard concern that so often accompanies office life. They
are commonly handwritten or composed in 'Word' but they are never
commonplace. Each has its own style, message, and stylish clip art theme.
These signs typically are made to inform the audience that they need to
clean up after themselves. The viewer is often told that their mother does not
live in the office and is not available to clean up for them. More aggressive
examples, also known as 'the shallow threat" complain about coffee prices
and coffee ownership or sternly warn the viewer to not flush paper towels or
tampons down the toilet.
2009 NEWS!
The domain for the OSP has changed a lil bit from officesignproject.com to
theofficesignproject.com Change your links!
JUNE NEWS
The Office Sign Project has petered out a bit (and been kind of replaced by
Passive Aggressive Notes who published a book with the exact same title as
my book proposal but I would rather passive aggressively change the stickers
on all of the books at bookstores across the nation over to remnant
prices...kidding - you can't OWN office notes - you can only appreciate them -
that is what the OSP is about) probably because anyone with the OSP
Appreciation sensibility has been laid off of their office job.
I have plenty of room to keep the collection up online and still have a little zine
planned so you can get a copy for your office break room.
Feel free to send in submissions in the meantime!
SEPTEMBER NEWS
Since my recent transplantation (I'm an office sign artist, I can make up word
meanings) to the Midwest I have noticed a surge in office sign submissions,
office sign appreciation, and office signs in general. These so-called fly over
states are actually the hub of American folk art. I'm glad to be back. Check out
some new submissions and please, keep holding your breath for the
redesign. It's coming soon. Swears.
AUGUST NEWS
My only August news is that August is almost over. The OSP has packed up
and moved to new location so it's kind of backed up a far as submissions.
Feel free to send more!
JULY NEWS
Well it's summertime again here around the Office Sign Project. There have to
be plenty of signs about air conditioners and windows and fans around your
office. Be sure to snap and submit!
