Lets take a look at a typical Office Sign
Note the subject matter. The artist hits home
immediately. MOTHER.

This specimen appears to be in Times New
Roman font. TNR has an authoritative, yet
familiar feel to it. The artist made an
interesting decision by using ALL CAPS.

The author has also chosen to omit any
punctuation. Getting to the heart of the matter.

We also see two different spellings of
COFFEE.  And it's not clear if this office has
coffe GRIDS or GRINDS. Perhaps the
signmaker created this sign under extreme
duress or subconsciously does not want to
be understood?

S/he uses a measured spacing technique to
separate the multiple messages. There are
three distinct messages here: Your mother
doesn't work here. Remember to clean the
coffee pot. And thank you.

Like this analysis, the sign is left justified.
Many "business documents" are left justified.
It is difficult, without seeing the work in my
hands, to determine if the artist did this
because s/he lacks design training or out of
an advanced intention to subvert the
expectations of the sign audience.
